Good Shepherd, The

Aroview: Robert De Niro directs this dramatization of the CIA’s clandestine origins, with Matt Damon in the central role of a colourless career spy.

Captures the many twists and turns in the life of a CIA operative, while drawing parallels between the botched Bay Of Pigs Invasion and the recent military work in Iraq. A handful of talented character players (Michael Gambon, Alec Baldwin, Joe Pesci) add levity to the somewhat dour role of Damon and the earnest approach of De Niro.
