Real Life
Aroview: The genius of Albert Brooks debuted in this hilarious, razor-sharp blueprint for the media monster we now know as Reality TV.
Convincing an average American family to allow his crew to document their mundane suburban lives, Brooks (playing himself) egotistically presides over the filming of their daily routine (using ‘state-of-the-art’ helmet cams!), inevitably interferring with the nature of the experiment itself. As self-deprecating as ever, Brooks’ satirical awareness is well ahead of its time, while the now-stale mockumentary format he employs comes across as entirely fresh, even a little too 'real' according to some.
