Down to the Bone
Aroview: A mother-of-two in wintery upstate New York grapples with cocaine addiction and checks into rehab, only to discover unexpected fissures in her family and relationships upon recovery.
Though it does little to disguise its no-frills production values (or perhaps the bleak side of American life) and explores a subject perhaps over-familiar to fans of independent cinema, this is a quiet, rewarding achievement from its first time writer-director that patiently wrings out excellent performances from leads Vera Farmiga and Hugh Dillon.
