Sunshine
Aroview: Proverbial space peril from the creators of 28 DAYS LATER; a crew of astronauts, and mankind’s last hope, set about delivering a nuclear payload to reignite the solar system's dying sun.
Almost entirely derivative of films dealing in deep space exploration as a prerequisite to saving the world, writer Garland and dir. Boyle ultimately mar their entry into the subgenre by attempting to rejuvenate it with a far-fetched, bloodletting third act. As a sci-fi spectacle, however, theirs is the most impressive to date, augmented by realistic space concepts, imposing special effects, and a palpable sense of hostility and precariousness in being dispatched a million miles away from earth.
