Shooter
Aroview: Mark Wahlberg plays a military sniper recruited to prevent an presidential assassination in this political thriller for a generation of George “Dubya” haters.
Easy to predict, with shades of Eastwood - both in his political thrillers and post-modern westerns - this doesn’t require too much in the way of thinking (in fact, too much thinking will ruin the almost intentionally flimsy plot). Thoroughly effective as a 'shoot-em-up' though, this is a 'guilty pleasure' to not feel so guilty enjoying.

3 stars (Good Enough) Not quite as deep as the Stephen Hunter novel 'Point of Impact', but entertaining as an actioner, this conspiracy story has ex spec-ops Wahlberg taking down a government conspiracy one vicious kill at a time. ~Tom H
2 stars (Good Try) Barbara is as usual fine in this modest screenplay but the highlight is the stunning black and white photography. ~Tubbs
