A Dry White Season

USA 1989, 97 minutes
Dir. Euzhan Palcy
Genres: Classics, Drama / Courtroom

Topics: Indigenous & Minority Cultures.

Aroview: Enraged by the brutal, senseless murder of his black gardener’s son by a racist ‘special policeman’, a South African schoolteacher (Sutherland) partners with a lawyer (Brando) to prosecute the killer by any means necessary.

A forceful, emotionally-wrenching condemnation of the Apartheid regime, this is somewhat marred by adopting a filtered perspective of racism through noble white characters, but certainly has its heart in the right place.
