Seraphim Falls

Aroview: More old-fashioned than revisionist, this muscular revenge western trails a savage army colonel (Neeson) as he hunts down a union officer (Brosnan) who he believes slaughtered his family in cold blood.

A simplistic vengeance conceit is augmented by combative violence and visuals, with Brosnan and Neeson further enhancing the film’s roughneck temperament with two rage-filled performances. Lacks the interrogation of western mythology that say, UNFORGIVEN, wears on its sleeve, but makes excellent use of the genre’s archetypes in survivalism and retribution.
