Day Watch
Aroview: The vampiric Muscovite forces of Good and Evil fight it out again in this frenetic, fantastic FX fantasy every bit as good as the first one (NIGHT WATCH), if a little over-stuffed and over-length.
Further invigorating the vampire genre with splashy visuals, thrilling set-pieces, and a constant ability to surprise (its imaginative use of subtitles, for example, remain), dir. Bekmambetov’s creative juices continue to flow unabated, thrusting the trilogy forwards as it hits the ground running. Suffers some minor wobbles as a bamboozling narrative progression, but otherwise remains gleefully unrestrained in all other departments.

3 stars (Good Enough) Timur continues his saga with Day Watch, this time bringing more outrageous special effects, if somewhat less original the second-time around. If you enjoyed the first, definitely check this one out. ~Tom H
