Aroview: Carefully drawn psychological thriller in which a precocious child of Manhattan's wealthy elite starts to act up - in a creepy, possibly malevolent, butter-wouldn't-melt way - when his little sister is born, fracturing an already-cracked family.
Less supernatural than mental disturbance, the film’s mis-marketing in some quarters as a spawn of THE OMEN further belies its nervy chamber drama, warning against impetuous parenthood and the perils of raising children. Comparable to THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE, this uses simple but effective human turns in jealousy and neglect to unfurl its tragedy, qualified by a Jacob Kogan’s ability to alternate between menace and dubious innocence.
