Aroview: Producer Aaron Spelling's lavish prime-time soap, conceived to capitalize on the huge success of rival, "Dallas", can't hide its status as a second-rate clone, but at least wears its tackiness on its very expensive sleeve.

With the trump card of Joan Collins as the queen bitch she was born to play, it glossily details the high lives and low lifes related to the Carringtons, an oil-rich family in Denver clutching on to their empire while dealing with the usual sordid roster of illicit affairs, dirty business deals, catfights, big hair and bigger shoulder pads.
