Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium

Aroview: Elves-in-the-toyshop fantasy with Dustin Hoffman as Mr. Magorium, the kindly, Wonka-esque, owner of a magical toy store.

Due for retirement, Mr Magorium plans to leave his Emporium - and the countless amazing, enchanted toys that live there - in his protege, Portman's, good hands. Succession planning is only slightly interrupted by the arrival on the scene of a stodgy accountant (Bateman).

Wonderful CGI effects and an affecting, good-hearted sense of the magic in life make this very seasonally motivated movie a fair runner-up to the classic Wonkas, Potters and Doolittles whose sensibility it keenly shares.
