Michael Clayton
Aroview: Razor-sharp legal thriller involving a sprawling class-action law suit and alleged cover-up, George Clooney plays a humble legal 'janitor' who gets his hands dirty in its mix of unreliable witnesses, shifting alliances and sinister corporations.
In his directing debut, Tony Gilroy (writer of the Bourne trilogy films) takes his time to thicken the plot, layering on the intrigue with often obtuse clues and connections, but as the story comes full circle, potential confusion is satisfyingly dispelled.
Nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, and winner of Best Supporting Actress for Tilda Swinton.
