August Rush
Aroview: Celebrating the inspiring power of music, this captivating drama follows the quest of an orphaned musical prodigy who uses his gift to find his parents on the streets of New York.
Bigger than life as it embraces the unabashed emotionalism of melody and rhythm, it's child wunderkind Freddie Highmore who again displays an emotional intelligence that transcends his years and proves he's much more than a pixie-cute face. While first-time director Sheridan (daughter of veteran Jim) doesn't quite have the experience to pull off the ambitious crescendo, it doesn't diminish this as a magical family-friendly gem that deserves to choke up a much wider audience.
