Cowboys and Communists
Aroview: Engaging culture documentary centred on a risque East Berlin bar and eatery (known as White Trash Fast Food), operated by an ex-pat 'cowboy' American, whose establishment raises the ire of the elderly 'communist' residents in the same apartment block.
Kiwi film-maker Jess Feast made the film while working at 'White Trash' as a waitress, and finds herself at the epi-centre of a potentially combustible clash of culture and ideology. Gleaning rich socio-political insight from a colourful tableux of characters, they fascinate equally whether they walk on the wild or conservative side.
