10,000 B.C.
Aroview: Beasts, behemoths and flesh-eating emus prowl the prehistoric landscape in another of Roland (INDEPENDENCE DAY) Emmerich's effects-heavy epics, this time based on a young mammoth hunter's mission to save his childhood sweetheart and secure the future of his tribe.
Partly shot in Queenstown and narrated by none other than Omar Sharif, this critically panned CGI-fest may well be guilty of dreadful dialogue and favouring spectacle over storyline, but if you're able to look past the pearly-whites of the 'primitive' hero and take some of the more fanciful scenarios (e.g. a merciful sabre-tooth tiger) with a shakerful of salt, you might just end up more entertained than you'd expect. Otherwise just laugh yourself loony at the liberties it takes.
