A dreamy and well-crafted example of erotic cinema with luscious sets and ductile cinematography. Although the film contains a lot of disturbingly vivid whipping and kinky kitsch it is lifted out of a potentially smutty overall atmosphere by its interesting central character study and psychological revelation.
