Love Story
Aroview: Belated but worth-the-wait tragi-profile of overlooked cult band Love, whose magnetic black frontman Arthur Lee passed away shortly before this documentary’s release.
With extensive focus on Love’s psychedelic origins, ethnic liberalism, and seminal rock albums (namely, ‘Forever Changes’), this is a somewhat lopsided overview centred towards the music rather than the musicians, whose chequered history – a blur of substance abuse and thwarted success – makes for heart-breaking reading. Nevertheless, the late Lee is captured is all his final, maddenning glory, shortly before succumbing to Leukaemia in 2006.
