Get Smart
Aroview: The iconic 60's TV show gets a surprisingly belated big screen update as a familiar Hollywood action-comedy - heavier on the action than comedy.
In making a conscious decision neither to 'imitate' the inimitable original, nor to be an 'ironic' update, the characters and setting come off as blandly contemporary, with Steve Carrell lacking the charisma or stupidity to pull off a great character like Maxwell Smart. The lithe Anne Hathaway as Agent 99 (in rather fetching white leather) leaves more of an impression, and there are a few aeronautic Bond-spoof thrills to be enjoyed, but even on its own terms, this is much more JOHNNY ENGLISH than AUSTIN POWERS or even the recent PINK PANTHER.

3 stars (Good Enough) Uninteresting. It's just as unfunny as the actual series. The original series' movie "Get Smart Again" was much funnier than this movie or the 60s tv show ever was. ~dr.strangelove
2 stars (Good Try) Some good parts - not the worst unnecessary remake around. ~Tubbs
