Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day
Aroview: Zippy "roaring 30's" comedy about an unemployed governess (McDormand) who finds a new zest for life and love after accepting a job with a frivolous, fun-loving starlet (Adams).
Yet another misguided crack at channelling bygone screwball comedies, this is redeemed by a top-drawer cast, most notably Amy Adams, who rekindles the spirit of yesteryear’s glamour damsels with a performance that lights up the screen in spite of the middling material.

4 stars (Very Good) ~Milana
3 stars (Good Enough) The screenplay is forgettable but Frances and Amy are quality chalk and cheese. Throw in Shirley Henderson and Ciarán Hinds et al. plus excellent period details and your admission money is covered. ~Tubbs
