Easy Virtue
Aroview: This breezy, gorgeously detailed period piece features Biel as the world's first female Grand Prix driver, a glamorous city-bred American widow, who marries an equally spirited English heir (Barnes) and is taken to his country estate to be showcased to the folks.
She puts the shock of the new up the stuffy Angles, but soon scandals, manipulations, and cultural clashes threaten to overwhelm her fortitude. Inspired by Hitchcock's 1928 film of the same name, the film takes clear delight in poring over the stylistic minutiae of the interwar period, and Kristin Scott Thomas and Colin Firth ooze excellent brands of frosty malice and unshaven charm respectively.
