Aroview: American remake of Spanish horror [REC] follows a group of firefighters who discover something sinister lurking within an apartment building and have their horrific ordeal documented by a local news team.
This is a wince-inducing affair, its main purpose to bulldoze the viewer into submission through frenzied violence, wild handicam work and playful, tension-mounted shocks. A lack of any character development might leave you cold, but for a quick and gory assault on the senses, it certainly satisfies.

2 stars (Good Try) An unnecessary remake of a film that needed no translation or remake at all. Still worthy of attention from those seeking some scares, but one wonders why this even needs to exist when Rec has only just hit American screens. ~Tom H
