Spirit, The
Aroview: Hollow directorial debut from comic book artist Miller centered around a rookie cop who comes back from the dead to fight crime as the stylish superhero 'The Spirit'.
While one can admire Miller's stylish visual effects (the aesthetic taken from own comic of the same name), much less can be said of his directorial efforts, for this is a messy, convoluted affair, which only redeems itself when viewed as a campy comedy. Miller enthusiasts will surely find something to enjoy in all the indulgence, as will fans of the money-soaked bomb, almost a cult genre in its own right.

3 stars (Good Enough) Another Miller graphic novel, brought to life in the same fashion as Sin City, this has a dark visual style which is strangely offset by its very comic characters and B-grade one-liner dialogue. Still, there is some mindless fun to be had. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) Uneven but to its credit, it is different and never boring. ~Tubbs
