Sin City
Aroview: A sensational slab of stylized and ultra-violent pulp fiction, adapted from Frank Miller's own notorious 'crime noir' comicbooks, and cinematically airbrushed in B&W with loving care.
Set on the mean streets of the metropolis of "Basin City", this is less super-hero than anti-hero, with all three storylines involving disgruntled or disfigured males (Willis, Owen, and an amazing comeback from Mickey Rourke) on the hunt for evildoers, so as to ultimately protect various sultry womenfolk. Rendered almost entirely in a CGI chirascuro of bottomless shadows and glistening surfaces, spotted by the occasional spurt from a burst artery, this is a bravura exercise for dir. Rodriguez.

4 stars (Very Good) A guilty pleasure painstakingly translated to film with the same visual flair and cartoonish violence of the graphic novels, and almost perfectly cast. Now where did the sequel ever get to? ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) Still can't make up my mind after seeing it more than once but have given it the benefit of the doubt for at least being different. The voice over grates at times & its a bit overlong but I like the stylization. ~Tubbs
