Acolytes

Aroview: Chilling, if somewhat uneven, low-budget Aussie thriller concerning a group of teens who blackmail a serial killer to help them extract revenge on a bully who abused them as children.

An oversaturation of cheap 'SHOCK!' moments and an oddly uneventful middle act don't deter too much from the fine central performances (from actual mumbling teenagers), aided by surprisingly high-end digital camerawork. Ultimately though, it is the killer of a climax that will keep this lingering in the memory.
