Dying Breed

Australia 2008, 91 minutes
Dir. Jody Dwyer
Genres: Horror

Topics: Cannibal.

Aroview: Gruesome Australian horror centred around a group of friends who go in search of the fabled Tasmanian Tiger, only to find themselves fighting for their lives against another, far more murderous, piece of Tasmanian folklore.

This manages to rustle up some decent scares with its beautifully dark cinematography shot in the Tasmanian Wilderness, although the 'smug Gen-Y kids vs. the unknown horrors of nature' story is a tad too familiar. Ultimately, the psychopath in this one is having much too good a time for it to be truly chilling, propelling the whole thing into gleeful irony.
