New Zealand 2009, 84 minutes
Dir. Leanne Pooley
Genres: Documentary, Music / Country & Folk, Female-centric, Lesbian
Feat. Jools Topp, Lynda Topp
Aroview: An adorable, "Kiwi-as" portrait of NZ's beloved folk-singing comedy duo, Jools and Lynda Topp, which also resonates as a ripely entertaining look back at three decades of cultural change.
Fittingly structured around a specially-staged concert performance, the Topps frankly shade in details of their life story and iconic career with generous servings of their musical repertoire and big-hearted humour, while not shying away from issues such as their lesbian relationships, politics and Jools' fight with cancer. To know them is to love them, so perhaps unsurprisingly, this was tops at the local box-office.

5 stars (Exceptional) ~normfilmbuff
4 stars (Very Good) Comical and Political but full of sincerity. Loved the historical footage and plenty of giggle moments (especially over the 80's hair do's) ~Baby
4 stars (Very Good) Fantastic, personal, tribute documenting a colourful career of two true-blue Kiwi icons. A real trip down memory lane that explores their political involvement in social change. The personal stories, like their music, are so entertaining. Just brilliant. ~GenXGirl
