Complete History of My Sexual Failures, A

Aroview: Taking self-absorbed, cinema-as-confessional to excruciating extremes, film-maker Chris Waitt turns the camera on himself to analyse his failure as a long-term romantic partner and - we kid you not - sexual performer.

Setting out to find the answers, he tracks down as many of his ex-girlfriends as he can find, putting them in various stages of embarrassment, and to various degrees of our amusement. The shameless Waitt is not without charm, and there is voyeuristic/theraputic fascination to be had nosing through his sexual diary, but scenes of genuine emotional honesty are deflated by scenarios that seem contrived in the name of entertainment, and in the end the viewer is left uncomfortably not knowing to what degree we are in on the 'joke', if in fact it is a joke in the first place.
