Although there's plenty of scope for dramatic tension, dir. Gill takes a more optimistic, family-friendly route, and ultimately all the pleasantness and acceptance undermines the scandal that forms its central plotline. On the other hand, some might find a 'happy' coming-out story a refreshing change.
