La Antena
Aroview: Richly appointed in retro-industrial iconography, and possessed by the dreamlike influence of David Lynch, Georges Franju and Fritz Lang, this gorgeously aesthetic homage to silent film, expressionism and film noir is a cult film waiting to be discovered for art lovers and tech-heads alike.
Set in a city where the population has had its voice stolen by a media mogul known as Mr. TV, the conceit prescribes that the film plays out mostly in silence, allowing only the images, one or two characters and subtitle graphics (strikingly integrated into the production design) to do the 'talking'. Cinematographer-turned-director Sapir seamlessly integrates his visual motifs and symbols with the theme and plot, against a broader backdrop of political and religious allegory.
