Aroview: Enterprising and entirely effective "reboot" of the Sci-Fi franchise, charting the early days of Captain Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise.
With renewed energy and an adventurous spirit, this re-haul reminds us that there’s still life in the old ship yet, dir. Abrams setting a relentless pace from the get-go that never slows - indeed, the entire crew is rounded up on a mission to save the galaxy by the 40 (!) minute mark. The thrill-a-minute proceedings are complimented by an excellent cast who tackle their familiar characters with youthful exuberance, uttering some of the more dorky Star Trek-speak with genuine, up-and-at-em’ sincerity. Newcomers will love it as a pure popcorn blockbuster, and for Trekkies, their favourite characters are never treated with anything other than love, albeit with a sprinkling of gentle mockery.

4 stars (Very Good) For a serious non-fan of the Star Trek series, I was suitably impressed. JJ Abrams has seriously raised the bar for the franchise, bringing a sci-fi tale which touches on many emotions and impresses the eyes. ~Tom H
4 stars (Very Good) For someone with absolutely no intrest in the franchise, this is a really sharp, exciting and fresh experience. ~Wizzums
2 stars (Good Try) There is only one Spock - I struggled looking at Quinto for two hours. ~Tubbs
