Aroview: The formidable Budd Boetticher-Randolph Scott alliance delivered this lean, mean stagecoach thriller – probably the finest of the duo’s seven compact westerns – concerning an extortion plot masterminded by the conniving Richard Boone. Abrupt violence and moral ambiguity elevates it well above the norm.
