Climates
Aroview: The director of UZAK employs startlingly high definition photography and an Antonioni-inspired dissection of male-female relations to unpredictable effect.
An exploration of modern romance and its propensity for jealously, fixation, or emotional rage, this lacks the warmth and humour of previous encounters, instead clashing cynicism with sumptuous, languid imagery. Ceylan also steps in front of the camera, playing the disagreeable central character whose on-again-off-again fling with a younger woman, and other hook-ups, is charted across three gorgeously shot Turkish seasons.
