Cheri
Aroview: Gorgeously-appointed period drama set in the "Belle Époque" of 1900s Paris, focused on a love affair between a retired courtesan (Pfeiffer) and a disaffected, flamboyant youth nicknamed 'Cheri' (Friend).
The cast are all but upstaged by the extravagant yet tasteful art nouveau decor, though Pfeiffer, in full middle-aged bloom, holds her own in a role to fit her maturity as a screen siren. Perhaps too stagey and dispassionate to get the heart racing as it should, but its delicacy and poignancy will speak strongly to women of a certain age.
