Portrait of a Lady
Aroview: Unfairly roasted by many critics, our Jane's adaptation of Henry James' novel dares to offer more than romance in fancy dress, but instead a complex, austere work about the paradox of feminism. Nicole Kidman leads the note-perfect cast as the independent lady ironically drawn to the 'wrong guy' (John Malkovich) in 1800s Italy.
The DVD comes with a supremely candid and insightful 'making of' documentary called 'Portrait'.

4 stars (Very Good) The story of strong-willed, independent-minded Isabel Archer, it's largely about good intentions going awry, roads not taken, misguided decisions made for good reasons. Lovely, heartbreaking, and at times terrifying, I liked it better than the book! ~GenXGirl
