Che: Part Two
Aroview: An epic undertaking by dir. Steven Soderbergh, this two part resurrection of the Che Guevara legend (played charismatically by Benicio del Toro) attempts to bypass the myth of the iconic revolutionary, scrupulously examining the history and context behind his feats through an exhilarating brand of guerrilla filmmaking.
Part Two, dramatising Che’s troubles in Bolivia, shifts down a gear from the triumphant, high-paced guerrilla warfare of the first half to raise questions about the nature of revolution. While the comparatively desolate tone may be off-putting to some, Soderbergh stays true to the ‘nightmare’ of Che’s failed campaign, edging us resolutely towards the leader’s demise.
