Aroview: Tensely conceived, enterprising Kiwi thriller finds a true crime novelist so deeply invested in the violent subject of his latest book, that he begins to expect the death of a tramper in the Waitakere Ranges may be his own doing.
First-time writer-director-editor Robertson delivers a commendably slick and inventive noirish atmosphere on a micro-digi budget, with a game ensemble cast making the most his loopy whodunit premise. Gareth Reeves proves himself leading man material, while Cameron Rhodes and Ian Mune add further touches of acting class. If these qualities do ultimately expose inadequacies in the script, it still stacks up favourably against similar local attempts at the genre.

4 stars (Very Good) With limited budget this cast and crew have managed to pull off a suspenseful entertaining film. Well done to all ~Baby
3 stars (Good Enough) Like alotta thrillers, it goes haywire-silly toward the end - but til then, I was hooked. Solid cast and atmospheric locations help keep the familiar pulp material fresh and intriguing. I'll be curious to see what writer-director Robertson does next. ~fairbrother
2 stars (Good Try) The main plot idea is very good but 100 minutes is a long time to maintain the suspense - in this case it may have been too ambitious. The sound track is very good. ~Tubbs
4 stars (Very Good) Some of the characterisations were a little ham-fisted, but all up the movie works. I liked the resolution, it made sense. ~Truant
