Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle, The
Aroview: Pleasingly off-kilter indie comedy bares witness to the spiritual crisis of an office clerk who joins a posse of bohemian night janitors who become strangely affected by batches of prototype cookies they discover in the trash.
Idiosyncratic without veering into affectation, this is smart film making with a surfeit of themes perhaps more than first time director Russo can handle, but its representation of young lives in limbo is assuredly handled, displaying a kinship with its characters' romantic idea of the "outsider artist". Vince Vieluf, in particular, is a standout, with more than a dash of Matt Dillon/Jarmusch cool.
