Ninja Assassin

Aroview: Severed limbs dominate this off the wall chopsocky fight fest with a rogue ninja taking on the a clan of ninjas in that sneaky way that ninjas do.

Despite being saddled with a truly redundant title this is an enjoyably idiosyncratic take on an increasingly tired genre. Curiously shot in dimly lit interiors many of the fight scenes are borderline incoherent, but that's not to say this is a subtle exploration of tortured ninja psyche, this is a movie that delivers on its thin premise and is all the better for it. Rain makes an agreeable if smirky hero ninja, and the obligatory training montages are actually quite striking.
