Syndromes and a Century
Aroview: A rural hospital surrounded by Thailand's evergreen jungle is the setting for this blissful meditation on memory and desire, shot in the exquisite style of acclaimed avant-garde dir. Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
Loosely focused on the working lives of two doctors – based on the director's own parents – what transpires is both gloriously languid and disorientingly experimental, even Lynchian in plot, as some critics have referenced. Gorgeously shot, the film is partnered with Tsai Ming-liang's I DON'T WANT TO SLEEP ALONE as part of the 'New Crowned Hope' festival commission.
