Underbelly - Season 3 (TV Mini-series)
Aroview: Sydney’s infamous Kings Cross, circa 1989, is the setting for this latest airing of Australia’s dirty laundry.
Although centred on the exploits of would-be gangster John Ibrahim and his posse of Lebanese heavies, the real star of UNDERBELLY’s third installment is the sleazy ‘Golden Mile’ itself, and the crooked cops who patrol the strip – widespread police corruption which is portrayed here in context with the Wood Royal Commission investigations in 1995.

4 stars (Very Good) The third season of Underbelly, although not connected to either of the previous stories, we now take a look at the sex industry and crooked cops of Sydney (again based on true events). Harsh and realistic, Underbelly has still got it. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) This series suffered because many of the characters relevant to this era are still alive. Therefore the makers tended to soft-soap them, especially John Ibrahim. ~Nick McB
