Sorcerer's Apprentice, The
Aroview: Playing to type, Jay Baruchel is the average, unassuming new recruit of a master sorcerer (Nicholas Cage) who needs the help of a protégé to defeat his arch-nemesis (Alfred Molina).
Classic black magic set-up has all the elements of an entertaining fantasy romp transplanted into modern times, though one could argue the film’s convoluted plot is an unwelcome distraction, and not really in keeping with the Disney virtues of simple, timeless storytelling. Still, youngsters craving more after their Harry Potter and Percy Jackson fill should sign up.
