Tree, The

Aroview: Australian-French co-production stars Charlotte Gainsbourg as a grief-stricken mother-of-four coping with the sudden death of her husband, while one of her children believes the spirit of the father exists in a giant fig tree on the family's property.

A lyrical, strikingly-made film that takes sublime advantage of the desert-hued Queensland countryside, its story is all the more poignant for the fact that dir. Bertucelli's own husband died during pre-production.
