Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work
Aroview: A ripely entertaining piece of work portraying the famously foul-mouthed, nip-tucked, seventy-something stand-up comic.
Rivers is a documentary character to die for - equal parts fearless, honest, insecure and always howlingly funny, who comes with a fascinating backstory of 50 seen-it-all years in show biz. These days, whether she's working tirelessly to be taken seriously as a performer or doing whatever it takes to cling to the spotlight, she comes across as the real deal, and it's hard to watch this and come away anything less than sympathetic and admiring. Ironically since the film was made, Rivers' stock has risen to new heights as queen commentator on E Channel's "Fashion Police".
