Sonatine
Aroview: Those familiar with 'Beat' Takeshi's films will know what to expect from this latest elegy to gangster violence. His personal demons manifest in striking, dispassionate, ambiguous form as his disenfranchised Yakuza boss is assigned to a remote isle to dispel rival gang tensions.

3 stars (Good Enough) Again taking the dual-role of director/lead, Beat Takeshi is daring and darkly funny (at times bordering on insane). Cut of the same cloth as 'Violent Cop' and 'Boiling Point', Sonatine is violent and memorable. ~Tom H
