Matariki
Aroview: A random act of violence affects eight Aucklanders in this melting-pot drama, set on the eve of the Maori New Year. Notable for excellent performances across and ensemble cast of veterans and non-professionals, with ace cinematographer Alun Bollinger and composer Don McGlashan also on board.

4 stars (Very Good) I really enjoyed this film, helped possibly by locations I'm very familar with, but definitely a good - if slightly complex - watch. ~Barry B
2 stars (Good Try) I wanted to like this but it's hard work as just too many clunky factors-the body in the garden, the stereotypical asian, relevance to Matariki?. Ah Hi and Rawiri are standouts and when Wisemans character washes her husband it's beautiful.Kahuninja ~Kahuninja
2 stars (Good Try) The way it started out I thought it was a comedy but most of the lightness disappears shortly after only to reappear in flashes during the drama some of which is quite heavy. Not great but watchable. ~Tubbs
