Aroview: The legend of Mulan (previously tackled by Disney) is given the big screen treatment in this sweeping historical costume epic, a current specialty of Chinese cinema.

Though barely deviating from formula, the charismatic presence of Chinese star Zhao Wei (coincidentally, last seen in RED CLIFF as a fighting princess) injects the film with much-needed spunk, as well as a point of difference from the usual male-dominated storytelling.
