My Dog Tulip
Aroview: Touching, bittersweet adult animation of J. R. Ackerley's 1956 book, recalling the author's 15-year relationship with his beloved German Shepherd.
The warts 'n all memoir - including detailed accounts of the dog's bowel movements and sex life(!) - translates here as a story of loneliness, if also the timeless bond between man and canine, with an unsentimental look at life that is nonetheless incredibly poignant. The beautiful hand animation is accompanied by delightful and witty voice performances from vets Christopher Plummer and Lynn Redgrave.
