Red State
Aroview: Kevin Smith tries his hand at horror as three sex-obsessed teenagers are lured into a trap laid by religious fundamentalists.
Subversive comic-horror is a surprising improvement on Smith's previous work, though that's not to say its any less talky or obvious in its humour, but soft targets such as crackpot religious bigots -modeled on the awful Westboro Baptist Church- are something even Kevin Smith couldn't mess up.

4 stars (Very Good) The structural mess and cluttered idea-pallet make it both disjointed and thrillingly unpredictable, shifting genres as it takes on new targets. A blunt, brutally effective nightmare-comedy which, if nothing else, leaves you with much to argue about. ~fairbrother
1 star (Turkey) Not even John Goodman can save this one. ~Tubbs
