House of Pleasures
Aroview: Richly designed elegy set in a Parisian bordello at the end of the 18th century follows the working lives of its varied inhabitants. Bonello's picture is more languorous than erotic with a "fin de siecle" malaise permeating much of the proceedings.

1 star (Turkey) Crudely 19thC despite machine-wrapped King-size fags, only available 1920 on. Women are slaves, like most such today. Startling end makes one realise this story is not really past, but contemporary. DVD Black & White & Sex is far more informative. ~Sandy
2 stars (Good Try) It has a good look to it, especially the period's props and wardrobe, but the screenplay is too long for the material. ~Tubbs
