Woman in the Fifth, The
Synopsis: Intriguing, if ultimately baffling Parisian thriller about a struggling American writer (Ethan Hawke) who embarks on a passionate affair with an ethereal beauty (Kristin Scott Thomas).
“[Pawlikowski] creates a nice sense of paranoia and multicultural bewilderment that's the welcome tonal opposite of Woody Allen's romanticized 'Midnight in Paris' fripperies.”~Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly

2 stars (Good Try) The attractions of Kulig & Scott Thomas to Hawke are not believable. Even if the affairs were only being imagined (?) they are crucial to the screenplay & should be credible. However, what does work are the sets in the seedy hotel & its inhabitants. ~Tubbs
